I close my eyes...I am music...I am rhythm...

Alec is not a tall young man, standing a mere 5’6”.  His golden-hued body has been honed by years of physical activity - and amazing genetics – into a flawless sculpture of smooth, muscular flesh that would inspire the ancient Greeks to create great works of art in his image.  He is aware of his beauty, but does not bother thinking about it much, giving him a surprisingly humble attitude, and an ability to relate to anyone.  He wears his blonde hair long, hanging almost to his shoulders in a stylish cut that hides his ears from prying eyes and flatters the angles of his androgynous face.  His eyes are a veritable kaleidoscope of color, shifting along with his mood from the normal shades to other, stranger hues.

He dresses on the bleeding edge of fashion, wearing outfits that, on any other person, should look ridiculous, yet somehow he pulls them off.

Alec moves with a sense of easy grace.  He exudes self-awareness and self-confidence that is almost infectious.  His touch is warm and comforting, like sun-bathed earth, yet thrilling like a mild electric jolt.  All of this works to loosen tongues around him and make people comfortable talking to him and sharing themselves with him.

He is an excellent dancer and a skilled martial artist, as well as a gifted jewelry designer who never sells his work, but gives to those he deems worthy of receiving.

History:

Alec began life as the child of a bohemian woman and an absent father.  Adrianna DeVries raised her son in the style she had chosen, despite her wealthy upbringing, moving from commune to commune, selling ointments and herbal remedies, holding court with other people of eclectic origins.  Adrianna was host to a Sidhe returned from the Dream during the summer of 1969.  To the mortals around her, she was a beautiful, vibrant woman who everyone wanted to be near as much as they were able.  To the other Fae, she was a surprising Sidhe, preferring to wear linens and be barefoot and walk with the commoners, treating them as valued companions and establishing lifelong friendships based not on politics or rank, but on love and loyalty.  Alec grew up in this environment, affected from conception by the magics that his mother had at her fingertips thanks to the Sidhe spirit within, and he was forever altered by it.

As a young child, he was exceptionally precocious, and remarkably beautiful, and that beauty refined and grew more potent as he aged, making him lean and golden without needing the kiss of the sun.  His body bore other marks - ears that come to points at the tip, eyes that shimmer and change color with his moods - that set him apart from his peers, but his genial nature and his beauty made certain that he never wanted for friends.

When he was six, his mother moved to Portland, Oregon.  The spirit of the Sidhe within her was fading, returning to Arcadia, losing its hold on the woman who had carried it for years.  Adrianna wanted to find the man who had fathered her son, and she had heard on the wind that he would be found there.  Matthias Hunter, the man who fathered Alec, worked as a dancer and bar tender at many of the local gay bars, not gay himself, but not averse to desire and passion from anyone, regardless of gender.  Within his body had been the soul of a lustful fae spirit, a Satyr.  The two had pursued a period of intense passion that ended when Matthias disappeared one day, resulting in the siring of the boy that now belonged not in this world, not in the other world, but to both.  Now, upon seeing Adrianna, Matthias did not recognize her.  The spirit within him had long fled, leaving Matthias with an emptiness he longed to fill with sex, drink and reckless behavior.  He loudly denied fathering any child with Adrianna, and so she did not trouble him further.

Together, she and Alec settled into an apartment in Northeast Portland, at the top of a complex overlooking the city, and she continued teaching him how to craft what was in his soul to make while at the same time ensuring he knew the things he would need to know to make it in the world.  Alec was home schooled and reached graduation equivalency rapidly, his mind voracious for knowledge.  By the time he was 12, he had attained his GED and was wandering the city, looking for new experiences.

Experience found him in the form of a much older man who was stricken by Alec's angelic features.  The man approached the boy, and the two, over a period of weeks, became quite close.  He was Alec's first lover, easily old enough to be his grandfather, yet Alec looks back on his time with the man quite fondly.  The man and Alec remained close for several months before Alec moved on and left the man behind.  Something in him was awakening powerfully, something dangerous and exciting.  His mother, vaguely remembering the time she had been something more, worried that her son had been chosen to become what she had been, and she worried that such an existence might take her son from her forever...but she didn't need to worry.  Fate had other plans in store.

Instead of becoming host to a spirit of Faerie, Alec Awoke to the truth of the universe by the time he was 13.  He learned of the secret histories of the world, and taught himself to pull and weave the threads of reality.  His gifts manifested most strongly when in an altered state of mind, or while lost in the primal thrumming of dance, and his power over life - his own and all around him - was potent.  Perhaps because of the connection between the natures of his fae-ridden parents and his own destiny, he grew in power rapidly.  He began making connections with other mages in the city, eventually meeting a youth named Bastian.

Bastian was a member of a group of magi who worked their powers through science more than the traditional arts that Alec practiced.  They had a whirlwind affair despite their differences, which ended badly with Bastian mocking Alec's style of magic and most aspects of Alec's life.  Though it pained him, he turned away from Bastian, as he had with the man who was his first, and moved on.

His mother and he had discussed the future, and Adrianna saw in her son a capacity to care for himself now that most youths his age wish they possessed.  Together, they agreed that she should be free to pursue her passion for helping others through her holistic practice, and he should be free to pursue his gifts and dreams.  She would always be there for him, but she would no longer hold him back.

She left him more than enough money to live comfortably, and he sold their apartment, moving to a new city.  There, he bought a warehouse and renovated it, making it a place where he could be comfortable, a place reflecting who he was to all who entered.  The roof was converted into an amazing garden, the floor level converted into a dance studio and gym, the upper level converted into living quarters.  He decorated in an eclectic style, merging aspects of Japanese, medieval Europe and modern sensibility.  There were no walls, only rice-paper blinds and silk curtains and tapestries to denote the rooms.

When he was 16, Alec began frequenting a new club called the Misfits, a place dedicated to giving the queer youth of the city a place to feel safe and comfortable.  He became a volunteer counselor and promoter for the club, throwing many incredible parties and organizing events over the years.  He still works there to this day, and is one of the few people there who has met with the elusive Iran, the owner of the club.

In this new city, he also met many, many lovers, taking men – young and old - into his home and heart without worrying about the possibilities of the future.

He also allied himself with the local underground of supernatural activity, finding allies, friends and lovers among the night races.  During a meeting of magi at a local gathering place, however, he met one mage who changed his life.

Drayton Vangeist, a musician, was there.  He was the opposite of Alec in many ways, pale and quiet and reserved where Alec was golden and outgoing and wild.  Something in the other man drew Alec to him, and he refused to take no for an answer.  He fell in love with Drayton, perhaps because the other man rebuffed him at first, and wasn’t easy prey to Alec’s wiles.  But whatever the reason, their souls sang to each other and drew the two together.  No other man has held the place in Alec’s heart that Dray holds, and no other will.  Alec has long believed that when Drayton dies, he will soon follow.

In recent years, Alec’s past and present have collided.  Bastian returned, asking Alec for help, and together, they went to Japan, to a training ground in the wilds that doesn’t exist, and Alec aided Bastian and the others there in defending the place against a supernatural onslaught.  It was there, in the Steel Garden, that Alec found another piece of himself.  He began studying Shinto, and the various martial arts that the Garden offered, and these things brought him a measure of peace.

His father - not Matthias, but the spirit who had resided within Matthias - returned, wanting to see what had become of the ‘bastard he’d sired with the pretty noble.”  He was disappointed in the result, for reasons he never explained, and left, never to return.

Alec’s lack of consideration for the darker things in the world led him to a period of captivity at the hands of a particularly cruel vampire, something which he still is not entirely over.

To this day, Alec splits his time, traveling the world for various parties and events and modeling shows, returning the Garden for clarity, and living in the city with his ever-changing circle of friends.
